Access Control

Stand alone reader

by Mark Rowe

The access control product manufacturer TDSi has a new stand alone access control keypad reader. The product is set up via a single reader/controller. Giving access approval through cards (up to 5cm away) and keypad codes, the unit has the capacity for up to 1000 passwords and card holders, suitable the makers say for most stand alone applications.

TDSi’s Managing Director, John Davies, said: “Whilst integrated security is becoming increasingly important, there are still many applications where a simple to install and use system is highly desirable. The new TDSi stand alone keypads offer excellent, robust and secure solutions that can be mounted virtually anywhere, inside or outside, and offer a highly cost-effective access control solution for all levels.”

The stand alone readers feature single mounting of the reader and ACU in one unit, reducing installation time and cabling costs. Vandal resistant and tamper proof, both products feature IP65 rated housing (with a temperature tolerance from minus 20 degrees C to 50C) allowing for use in virtually any situation, it is claimed. A backlit keypad enables the reader to be used by day or night. The reader is available in mullion and square varieties.

Other features include a built in anti-tamper function, watchdog timer, power reset, self-recovery function, connectivity to an external unlock button and open door button, dual relay outputs and full compatibility with TDSi’s proximity cards and fobs.
