A wireless hybrid platform

by Mark Rowe

New from Tyco Security Products is DSC’s PowerSeries Neo version 1.2. It’s described as an integrated hybrid security platform. According to Tyco, PowerSeries Neo offers the reliability of a hard-wired security system with the flexibility, scalability and features provided by its PowerG wireless intrusion products.

The product is designed for small to medium commercial and residential customers and their installers. As a hybrid platform, it can work with legacy wired systems, allowing users to keep an existing investment, while curtailing installation costs. It also provides the means to scale up as needed by the addition of wireless zones and devices.

The wireless capabilities include real-time visibility of the premises for visual verification and real-time audio verification, thus minimising false alarms. All of this is made possible through intuitive administrator dashboards. Users also have the option of access through mobile apps.

In transmissions, encrypted data communication guards against hacking and secures imagery for visual verification. PowerG ensures reliable communication within the system through its two-way communication platform that constantly seeks out and moves to available wireless frequency channels as needed. Energy and battery usage is preserved by the constant measurement of communication quality that then sets transmission power to minimal levels. Visit DSC.com.
