Biometric for passenger validation

by Mark Rowe

The manufacturer Gunnebo has won an order for biometric pre-security access gates for Korea Airport Corporation; a total of 14 lanes at Gimpo and Jeju international airports. KAC operates 14 airports in South Korea. Gunnebo won the business in cooperation with Korean systems integrator BZ System.

Gunnebo reports that more than 100 airports in Europe, Africa and Asia have been equipped with Gunnebo gates where passengers scan their boarding passes for validation. Earlier this year, airports in Malaysia, Oman, France and the United States started using the company’s gates with facial recognition cameras for passenger validation.

Robert Hermans, Senior Vice President Entrance Control, said: “The business for Korea Airport Corporation is another major milestone for our development in airport solutions in the Asia Pacific region, as this gives Gunnebo a strong reference to lean on for numerous upcoming projects.”
