Hikvision’s low-light DarkFighter PTZ camera has been nominated as a finalist for CCTV Camera Equipment of the Year, in ISFEC’s Security and Fire Excellence Awards. This camera uses the Chinese company’s low-light megapixel lens and is designed to capture colour and monochrome images in low-light conditions, the makers say. The result is colour images down to 0.0005Lux and full colour images in conditions that would defeat conventional monochrome IP cameras and competing low-light cameras, it is claimed.
According to Keen Yao, International Marketing Director at Hikvision, “We are very pleased to see the DarkFighter camera’s ultra-low-light sensitivity and unique Smart detection technologies rewarded with this nomination. Competition for these industry-leading awards was very fierce this year with a record number of entries received and our being shortlisted as a finalist is a testament both to the outstanding qualities of the DarkFighter camera and to the innovative approach Hikvision takes to the global CCTV surveillance market.”
MPEG4, MJPEG and H.264 video compression formats are supported and the camera features multiple H.264 compression profiles, for users to optimise bandwidth. The product’s detection features include Face Detection, Intrusion Detection, Line Crossing Detection and Audio Exception. The awards final runs on Thursday, November 27 at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel, London.
