Full HD for hazardous areas

by Mark Rowe

Videotec’s explosion-proof pan tilt and zoom (PTZ) camera now comes in Full HD.

The new MAXIMUS MPXHD from the Italian manufacturer is a Full HD explosion-proof PTZ, which produces high definition images. This camera is suitable the makers say for video surveillance and process control in hazardous areas and harsh settings where gases or flammable dust can create a potentially explosion, as in the oil and gas industries or marine and industrial sectors.

The Full HD, 1080p, 60 frames per second camera comes with a 30x optical zoom, able to identify details in a scene and broadcast images via Ethernet with H.264/AVC and MJPEG compression (meeting the ONVIF standard Profile-S to work with other companies’ network products).

The unit can provide from two to four video streams at once, up to a total of 20Mbps, depending on the configuration of the unit. The camera’s day-night feature offers high sensitivity in low light.

The firm adds that the design, the components and the construction in AISI 316L stainless steel with IP66 protection offers durability in temperatures ranging from minus 40 degrees C to plus 60 degrees C.

The product has a built-in wiper; also available is the WASEX washer kit with certified explosion-proof pump, reducing the need for maintenance. And pre-wired options are available , with armoured cable and barrier cable gland. Visit www.videotec.com.
