Cyber Essentials Plus

by Mark Rowe

The TALL Group of Companies, a UK provider of secure paper and electronic payment, has gained Cyber Essentials Plus standard. This accreditation is recognition of the essential security controls that the firm has in place to protect its technology and data. The Cyber Essentials scheme is a cyber security standard created by the UK Government.

The scheme identifies the security controls that an organisation must have in place within their IT systems, to have confidence that they are addressing cyber security effectively and mitigating the risk from web-based threats and cyber-crime.

Cyber Essentials certification gives an organisation peace of mind that its defences will protect against the vast majority of common cyber-attacks simply because these attacks are looking for targets which do not have the Cyber Essentials technical controls in place.

Cyber Essentials illustrates how to address those basics and prevent the most common attacks. Cyber Essentials Plus, while highlighting the protections an organisation needs to put in place, includes a hands-on technical verification with an internal scan and assessment of IT systems carried out.

Martin Ruda, Managing Director of the TALL Group of Companies, pictured, said: “This accreditation acknowledges the comprehensive cyber defences we have in place, which protect our own business and the operations we run for our customers. This independent certification sets us apart from competitors in the market and underpins our commitment to best practice in this area.

“I would like to congratulate our teams across the Group once again in achieving this standard. Our three Group sites in Runcorn, Hinckley and Lisburn exchange secure data on a daily basis and so this important Government-led initiative provides a clear focus on cyber-crime. “

“By successfully going through a Cyber Essentials assessment, businesses not only lower their risk of serious data and financial loss, including intellectual property theft but also, by displaying the Cyber Essentials’ badge on marketing collaterals, they demonstrate to customers and suppliers that they have taken steps to be fundamentally cyber safe.”
