Health plan guard contract

by Mark Rowe

A contract for protection of healthcare plan insurance company Simplyhealth’s four office buildings in Andover (pictured) and Winchester has gone to local security firm Venture Security.

After a competitive tender, the contract will run for three years, with the potential to be extended for a further two years. Venture Security, whose head office is in Andover, will have its SIA-licensed security officers manning reception in all four buildings, locking and unlocking the premises each day, patrolling the sites and responding to alarms. Venture will also be providing emergency cover as required.

Gareth Williams, Director of Estates and Environment at Simplyhealth, said: “After experiencing issues with our previous security provider, we decided to review our options. We were really impressed by Venture, especially in relation to how technology is integrated within their security services. The fact they are a local company was another big tick for us.”

Venture Security was founded in 2006 by Paul Howe and his wife Sara. Born and bred in Andover, Paul, a former event security manager, saw an opportunity to “do things better” and offer clients a more value-led service. While Venture has corporate and residential customers across central-southern England, it was featured in the January and February print editions of Professional Security magazine for its specialist street ranger-style patrols of high streets for local government and business improvement districts (BIDs) in Salisbury, and Winchester and Basingstoke, respectively. And as reported in the September print edition of Professional Security, Venture began town centre patrol work for Andover BID.

Paul Howe, Venture managing director, said: “Customers such as Simplyhealth are increasingly looking at integrated options for their front of house. Our ‘VentureFirst’ officers – so called because they are responsible for delivering a strong first impression – are not only SIA licensed, but also fully trained in customer services. This means they can effectively manage all reception and security duties, while providing a high quality service that is reflective of the position Simplyhealth holds within the industry.”
