Compact recorders

by Mark Rowe

IndigoVision’s new Network Video Recorders (NVR), the Compact NVR-AS 4000 can record and at the same time play back up to 20 cameras and has 1TB single drive storage. The product is less than 5cm tall – its dimensions are 145mm (depth) by 198mm (width) x 48mm (height) – and it weighs less than 1kg.

With an aluminium casing, fanless cooling, the 1TB hard disk for 24-7 recording and multiple mounting options, the recorder can be installed just about anywhere, according to the makers. The product offers 40 Mbps throughput and has a Linux operating system. The recorder has a 0 degrees C to 50 degrees C operating temperature (promised in the second quarter of this year is a high of 60 degrees C). Footage is digitally watermarked. The company adds that the NVR works according to a Distributed Network Architecture – there are no management servers; meaning you get no single point of failure.

Also, for small or distributed sites, the Compact NVR-AS 3000 can record up to 20 cameras and has up to 3TB single drive storage options, while the NVR-AS 3000 can record up to 64 cameras per NVR and has up to 9TB RAID storage. For sites with large camera numbers in a single site, or installs that require long video retention, the Large Enterprise NVR-AS 4000s can record up to 200 cameras per NVR and have up to 40TB storage. And Large Enterprise NVR-AS 4000s can record up to 700 cameras per NVR and have up to 600TB storage.

The recorders are also integrated with IndigoVision’s Control Center, the firm’s video management software, offering recording search and alarm handling.
