Multiple sensor dome

by Mark Rowe

New from VIVOTEK, the Taiwanese IP surveillance product company, is the vandal-resistant dome, MS8392-EV, pictured to its multiple-sensor line. Building on the MS8391-EV outdoor camera, the MS8392-EV features four 3-megapixel CMOS sensors with 180-degree panoramic views, in a new aesthetic design.

For wide open areas requiring detailed coverage, such as parking lots, shopping malls, schools, parks and plazas, it can maximize the field of view and reduces the total number of cameras required, so saving on installation time and maintenance costs, the makers say.

Equipped with a video alignment feature, the dome allows users to optimise the image quality of each sensor and get natural and optimal continuous panoramic views. The product also comes with a removable IR-cut filter and WDR (wide dynamic range) enhanced to deliver day-and-night protection and extend image visibility under high-contrast lighting.

Thanks to its IK10 and IP66-rated housing and its minus 50 degrees C to 50 degrees C temperature range, the MS8392-EV is able to withstand rain and dust and is safeguarded against vandalism and tampering when deployed for outdoor use, the company says. To eliminate interference caused by direct sunlight, the camera includes a sunshield for wall mount applications, and users can choose corner mount or pole mount accessories for installation.
