Chubb 200th

by Mark Rowe

Chubb Locks Custodial Services (CLCS) marked its 200th anniversary this week at its Willenhall head offices in the West Midlands to mark the occasion.

That’s how long Chubb has been around, designing, manufacturing and installing high performance locks for custodial and high security healthcare and government premises.

An event brought together past and current employees, plus customers from across its markets. Neil Vann, CEO for ASSA ABLOY UK (Market Region Manager), and Simon Teagle, Managing Director for CLCS, welcomed guests with presentations about their personal history with the company and its future, now as part of the physical security product multi-national company ASSA ABLOY. Guests were then treated to a presentation by Brummie local historian Dr Carl Chinn, who covered CLCS’ and Willenhall’s heritage in the locking industry. That history includes the Chubb Detector Lock that went unpicked for 33 years.

Speaking afterwards, Simon Teagle said: “We were very pleased with the birthday celebrations and it was great to see so many past and current employees, together with our customers, marking CLCS’ 200th anniversary. As a business whose success has been largely thanks to its loyal employees and team ethos, it was particularly important to us to bring everyone together to remember our past and celebrate the future.”
