Physical Security

Data centre group

Peter Jackson, Sales Director for Jacksons Fencing has been appointed Group Vice Chairman of the Site Security and Access Control Group for the Data Centre Alliance. That’s a trade association for data centres. Pictured left to right are the group’s chairman, David Ayers, Security Services Manager for Telehouse Group, and Peter Jackson.

Peter has been involved in the data centre industry for many years although the confidential nature of such installations prohibits the release of details.

That new Site Security and Access Control Group is intended to improve the level of understanding of physical security requirements for data centre sites. Peter Jackson says: “I am delighted to accept this role and look forward to working with David to drive a programme designed to create a heightened awareness of the importance of effective physical security strategies for the data centre industry. Any data centre has an innate responsibility to guard and preserve highly sensitive information but all too often the focus is on the protocol required to deliver a premier standard of data protection with less emphasis placed on the significant obligation to incorporate a layer of robust physical defence systems into the overall security architecture of the site.”
