Workforce Management

Officer tracking system

by Mark Rowe

The Birmingham-based guarding contractor ESG reports that it will be introducing a new officer tracking system to replace its old “clocking guns”. The new service will be rolled out over the next 12 months.

Patrol Manager offers a solution to those wishing to establish the who, where and when of officers (including mobile patrols). Patrol Manager uses smartphones, communicating in real-time with the client database, and publishing operational data to the Client Portal for customers to monitor service delivery.

ESG says that Patrol Manager helps the firm comply with Lone Worker rules on safety of officers. With features such as book on/off, control room monitoring, incident reporting and duress alert a customer can monitor employees and fulfil duty of care to Lone Workers. Features include:

Associate actions to specific tag locations
Maintain regular contact with officers
Automatic warnings if specific signals are not being received periodically from a Lone Worker
Multiple methods to raise the alarm in an emergency, these can be operated manually or triggered automatically by the absence of activity
Checks to ensure Lone Worker has returned to their base once a task has been completed
