Network domes

by Mark Rowe

VIVOTEK has launched two 2-Megapixel fixed dome network cameras, FD8163 and FD8363. Both cameras, also featuring 1080p Full HD resolution with image quality up to 30 frames per second, come with a removable IR-cut filter, 15-metre infra-red (IR) illuminators with Smart IR, for avoiding over-exposure under low light condition, and WDR Enhancement for unparalleled visibility in high contrast areas, providing identification around the clock.

FD8363, as the outdoor version of FD8163, has other features to support operation under harsh outdoor use, which include the IP66-rated housing for shielding the camera against rain and dust and the metal vandal-proof housing for protecting it from vandalism. Hence, FD8363 is the Taiwanese makers say suitable for monitoring areas such as building entrances and airports, while FD8163 is ideal for lobbies and schools.

For customers, maintaining optimal focus in public areas with complex image details, indoors or outdoors, can be costly because of labour and time. VIVOTEK has developed the Smart Focus System, including Easy Focus Button and Remote Focus, making image adjustment easier and more efficient, according to the company. By adopting a 3 ~ 9 mm motorized DC-iris lens, focal length adjustment can be performed remotely.

Steve Ma, VIVOTEK’s Executive VP, said: “Bearing the market demands and additional smart functions for our customers in mind, VIVOTEK has developed our latest fixed dome cameras with several outstanding and enhanced capabilities such as Smart IR and the Smart Focus System. VIVOTEK’s newly launched FD8163 and FD8363, with their cost effectiveness, superb image quality, and easy-to-use features, are undoubtedly two ideal choices for more robust indoor and outdoor surveillance.”
