Mitie signs Armed Forces Covenant

by Mark Rowe

The facilities management company Mitie has formally marked its commitment to the British Armed Forces by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

The FM contractor says that it marks its recognition of the value that serving and Reservist personnel, veterans and military families contribute to its business and the UK. It is also a pledge by Mitie to do more to support the employment of serving personnel, veterans and Reservists and help make the transition out of military life easier.

Mitie has also committed to giving Reservists and military spouses in its employment the flexibility they need to allow for deployment or training schedules, and also to support service leavers moving into civilian roles.

Mitie’s outgoing chief executive, Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE, pictured, said: “We recognise the tremendous contribution and sacrifice that our Armed Forces and their families make to our country and we are proud to sign the Covenant as a mark of our support and commitment.”

She signed the Covenant with Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (Reserves and Cadets), Major General Ranald Munro CBE TD VR, at Mitie’s Reading office on Monday, December 5. They were joined by Mitie reservists.
