Mitie service launch

by Mark Rowe

The Institute of Directors in London was the mid-June venue for the launch of facilities management (FM) contractor Mitie’s security management business’ City Class service, at the FM firm’s quarterly gathering, The Kurtzman Club.

Launching initially in London, the service, converging physical and IT security, has been designed to focus on securing customers’ reputations, people, intellectual property and assets, the contractor says.

The firm argues that high-profile cities increasingly require heightened and more sophisticated security measures, hence City Class; offering intelligence and threat awareness, people and technology.

According to Mitie the main differentiator of the service will be the front-line personnel; the contractor has a bespoke academy to ensure its security staff are trained and situationally aware, upskilled to handle the more challenging and diverse environments they protect, and deliver a service fitting for the most prestigious buildings.

Jason Towse, managing director of Mitie’s security management business said: “The launch of City Class is a really exciting development in addressing the evolving security needs of our customers, in the ever-developing threat landscape. While City Class is not exclusive to the London market and will be applied across other major cities and our national client base, it is the natural region for us to launch the offer. City Class takes our risk-based approach to security one step further and is the creation of what will be the sector-leading offer for corporate and strategic clients.”
