Megapixel camera updated

by Mark Rowe

The US-based manufacturer of megapixel cameras Arecont Vision reports that its products can be updated with new capabilities as they become available from its engineering and R&D teams, working with Technology Partner Program members. They include vendors of video management software (VMS), network video recorders (NVRs), physical security information management (PSIM), video analytics, infrastructure, and other hardware and software products.

This is by use of the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) integrated circuit (IC) at the core of Arecont Vision cameras, which is used by the firm’s fifth generation, in-house developed Massively Parallel Image Processing (MPIP) architecture.

An earlier Single-Sensor Sustaining Release issued in March of 2017 made SNAPstream (Smart Noise Adaptation and Processing) technology available to new Arecont Vision cameras plus 140 older models. SNAPstream reduces bandwidth and storage requirements without the makers add affecting image quality. Other feature enhancements and improvements were also made available in that sustaining release.

New features added and available for SurroundVideo G5 and SurroundVideo Omni G2/G3 cameras include SNAPstream bandwidth reduction; multi-stream support improvements; ONVIF Profile S support; white balance improvements (WB 2.0); new colour correction capabilities; wide Dynamic Range (WDR) improvements; cybersecurity enhancements; and a new, updated web interface.
