CCTV manufacturer GBC has recently opened a demonstration and training room at its Stevenage main offices, reports Sales Director Jess Johns. There the firm displays all its product range and can offer basic CCTV training in covert and discreet installations. The firm has appointed Steve Farrer to the new position of sales support engineer, to answer technical and sales queries. Jess Johns explains the reasoning behind this distributor support programme: ?As we are adding several new products to our portfolio, we would like toake sure the products are well understood.? For example, GBC unveiled the RSM (remote surveillance module) video transmission product at the MVD new product forum at Woburn Abbey in January. Jess adds: ?With a transmission product, you really have to see the picture quality live in order to appreciate what you are getting. So we have set up the RSM product in our demonstration room and put designated phone lines in so that customers can phone in and check on real time pictures. This is proving to be very successful.? The company has provided distributors with the equipment so that field sales staff can plug into a phone line and call up real-time images from GBC. Possible applications for the RSM, Jess suggests, include petrol stations and convenience stores, where the manager can plug the RSM into a phone line and remotely view CCTV images from existing camera of his sites. The manufacturer is also exhibiting new products at IFSEC.
