Air Expo Speakers

UK speakers are to the fore at the Air and Port Security Europe conference in Brussels in mid-September.

Nigel Churton, Vice Chairman, Control Risks will offer a security and risk analysis on air and port security. His view of London and business risks a year after 7-7 were featured in the current, September issue of Professional Security.

Chris Austen of London-based consultants MUSC Maritime and Underwater Security is to discuss trends in ports security.

Steven Bradley, LogicaCMG, will offer case history of the product manufacturer’s experience of developing the Privium biometric product at Schipol, and electronic passports for an eastern European government.

Michael Charlton-Weedy, Chief Executive of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat at the UK’s Emergency Planning College in north Yorkshire, will look at public safety in complex built environments, including airports, ports, cruise ships and ferries alongside, city centres, business districts and transport hubs.

Are we resilient? Henrik Kiertzner, an associate director of consultants Ove Arup & Partners will ask. He argues that most major operators, like the majority of other businesses, have taken great care to plan for the expected, but have few meaningful preparations for the unexpected.
