Accrington and Rossendale College are launching their new security education department.
Security Education and Training has been developed by the college, which is holding a launch day on Tuesday, September 2006 19. Invited speakers at Accrington and Rossendale’s new Innovations Centre at their Broad Oak Campus are from government and the security industry. The event starts at 10:30am with a reception and lunch provided. Courses available include personal safety which will involve people from different generations working together to achieve the qualification. Guests are invited to view our facilities and to participate in activities to demonstrate our course offerings and skills. Accrington and Rossendale College reports that it has invested over £40,000 in CCTV equipment into the campus facilities which was sponsored in collaboration with Guide Security of Blackburn and manufacturers Pelco.

Security, Education and Training’s Curriculum Manager, Alan Anderton said: “Within the expansion of the security industry in the past few years, quality training is the key to high standards. We feel that industry must realise that training is an investment not necessarily a cost. We at Accrington and Rossendale College are here to support that, by employing highly qualified and experienced staff from the industry.” Vivienne Toothill, course tutor, added: "Working closely with industry we can achieve high levels of success by addressing issues of the day and the future in society. We have a successful 100 per cent pass rate with candidates to this date.”
