Biometrics Show

by msecadm4921

Biometrics 2006 is running on October 19 and 20, at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in central London.

Biometrics 2006 will see the launch of the Rimax Staff On Time Palm Scan, a palm reader which identifies users by their palm print, rather than the geometry of their hand. Exclusive UK distributor Databac Group will demonstrate the uses of the product in access control and time and attendance applications. Tests have shown the percentage of false negative reads as low as 0.1 per cent, it is claimed. The contactless reader can be wall-mounted behind a window, making it weather- and vandal-proof, the distributors say.

Fingerprint systems

The range of Staff On Time fingerprint systems will be on display. Databac will show how biometric templates can be captured and encoded onto smart cards, using a Datacard SP series printer and its Dataimage ID software. This method enables the personalisation of credentials to work with biometric systems: fingerprints or palm prints are verified against the template held on the card, rather than on a central database, the firm says.
