Lone Working

by msecadm4921

Orange Business Services and Argyll Telecom have partnered to launch a range of products and services designed to help organisations comply with health and safety legislation on lone working practices.

The range of products and services allows employers to use mobile communication technology towards safety monitoring of lone workers through real-time location tracking.

Leeds City Council and Manchester Primary Care Trust (PCT) are two bodies that have already begun using services from Orange and Argyll Telecom. Leeds City Council uses the service to locate its neighbourhood wardens at any time and ensures the council delivers on the duty of care, inherent in health and safety legislation. Discreet alert activation, verbal and GPS location recording, and time-at-risk monitoring are among features in the products.

What they say

“New technologies are leading to changes in working practices which means more people are working alone at least part of the time either at customer sites, out in the field or in small premises,” says Neil Laidler, Vice President Business Services, Orange UK. “Our research identifies a large number of companies who do not have the systems in place to protect all their lone workers and comply with current and new legislation. The new solutions from Orange and Argyll Telecom will enable these companies to easily and affordably introduce technology to help them comply with legislation.”

“Working in partnership with Orange allows us to deliver a comprehensive set of lone worker solutions to provide the best technical means of ensuring lone worker safety,” says Tom Morton, Managing Director of Argyll Telecom. “Our joint expertise provides a set of scalable solutions that will benefit small businesses to large enterprise customers.”
