NI Retail Day

by msecadm4921

The first Retailers Against Crime in Northern Ireland conference runs at the Waterfront Conference Centre in Belfast, on May 29.

The conference is also being supported by the Police Service of Northern Ireland who recently as featured in the march issue of Professional Security Magazine, signed a formal information-sharing protocol with RACNI.

Delegates will be from throughout the UK and will include representatives and national loss prevention managers, retail crime partnerships, police forces, non-member stores and shopping centres. There will be no delegate fee.

Background

Since 1997 the Scottish equivalent, RACS has circulated information to members and police forces throughout Scotland – in particular highlighting the problem of travelling teams and offenders who impact on the profitability of stores.

In 2006 retailers in Northern Ireland realised the benefit a similar initiative could have and Retailers Against Crime in Northern Ireland (RACNI) was launched to more than 250 stores in July 2007.

The success of RACNI is proven already with ‘cross water offenders’ being identified in the early months, and offenders being recognised from bulletins and on occasion arrested.

The conference will focus on: tricks of the trade used by criminals, internal fraud, identity theft and plastic card crime to name a few. Essential information for staff and security officers within stores will be available to take away.

To reserve a free place at the conference please contact Maxine Fraser at Retailers Against Crime, based at the Scottish Business Crime Centre.
