The Nissan UK car manufacturing plant in Sunderland sought an easy to operate and reliable CCTV system with recording of images over long periods, in its large offices, outside office hours only. Installers Tates Security Services chose the Vista Columbus HDR, supplied by Norbain SD. tates installed a hard disk recorder (HDR) some 18 months ago as part of a 16 static camera system, featuring Vista NCD 530 cameras. However, this original recorder was found to be unreliable and difficult to operate. The Vista Columbus allows the user to retrieve images in a matter of seconds. As for ease of use, the push button controls and Windows pull down menus make installation and everyday use simple. The retrieval of information is smooth, with search criteria on time, date, text, camera and alarm. Because the HDR records digitally, manipulation of the data is straightforward. The installers report that the product has met all the specifications.
