Graduate programme

by Mark Rowe

The facilities management contractor Shepherd FM has launched a graduate programme.

Shaz Yusufi, a business graduate from the University of Hertfordshire, became the first graduate to join the scheme in January, working within Shepherd’s helpdesk for the initial part of what is a two year scheme. He will work across a number of service areas in the business, to gain experience with a variety of customers and their markets.

Applicants can join the scheme throughout the year. Bespoke career development is crafted to suit each graduate. At the end of the two years graduates will gain a BIFM qualification as well as a key role within the business.

Noel Clancy, Shepherd FM’s Chief Executive, said: “Launching our graduate programme is another logical step in our continuing quest to discover special talent. We already employ a number of exceptional people who have come from diverse backgrounds and walks of life, so this is by no means the only entry ticket into our business. It does however open a new exciting resource pool for Shepherd FM and I expect great results over the coming years.”

And Caroline Scott, Divisional HR Business Partner for Shepherd FM said: “This is an exciting project; no other FM business has a scheme like this. At Shepherd FM we are keen to drive a new FM agenda and to do this we need to motivate, inspire and set free the next generation of leaders. Our graduates will all have one thing in common, the desire to travel to the unknown, challenge the status quo and to succeed. Our graduates can help underpin the growth and success of the business in the longer term.”
