Chartered night

by Mark Rowe

The Inner Temple in London was again the venue for the annual black tie dinner for Chartered Security Professionals and their guests, on March 16.

Lord Alex Carlile QC CBE, Chairman of the Register’s Regulatory Authority hosted the event and spoke in glowing terms of the respect held for the Professional Register and for those who had gained admittance to it. The evening also included speeches from Barra McGrory QC, pictured, Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland; and Garry Evanson CSyP, the chairman of the Security Institute.

In line with tradition, Lord Carlile presented the celebrated new Registrants with their Certificates of Admittance. Eleven new Registrants were applauded. They included Badar al Mamari, the first Omani national to achieve CSyP status; and international CSyPs Adrian Nessel (Albania) and Peter O’Connell (UAE). The internationally based Registrants now span 15 countries.

Others receiving their certificates were Paul Kelly, Mike Lees, Rick Mounfield, Peter Shepherd, Dr David Boyd, Tom Parkhouse, David Buston and Dr Richard Botten. Their backgrounds cover the NHS, the Ministry of Defence, in information security, the nuclear sector, in retail, as consultants, in schooling and in the oil/gas sector. Also there were many of the CSyP’s mentors and assessors.

Some 117 are now registered Chartered Security Professionals worldwide. Its organisers the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals describe it as becoming increasingly recognised as a true marque of excellence and pre-eminence in the professional security sector.
