Fire Designer

Location: Remote (ideally UK/European time zone)

Duration: 3 months, with potential extension

Rate: £325–£375 per day (depending on experience)

Role overview

The Fire Designer will work on an ongoing contract, allocated to design projects that typically run for around 12 weeks at a time before moving on to the next assignment. The role is fully remote, with a preference for candidates in the same or similar time zone as Europe to enable effective collaboration with the FES team.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce fire system design documentation and drawings for allocated projects.
  • Support multi-disciplinary teams to ensure fire design aligns with project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Use CAD and/or Bluebeam to mark up, review and develop design information (Bluebeam preferred where possible).
  • Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings and progress updates as required.
  • Contribute to project handover information and respond to design-related queries during delivery.

Required skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a Fire Designer or similar (multi-skilled building services or fire-focused background).
  • Awareness and practical use of CAD and/or Bluebeam; does not need to be an expert, but comfortable working with drawings and mark-ups (Bluebeam experience is advantageous over CAD).
  • Good understanding of fire safety design principles and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently on remote projects, managing workload and deadlines across 12-week project cycles.
  • Strong communication skills for remote collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience on data centre projects (beneficial but not essential).
  • Previous experience working with European or UK-based engineering or consultancy teams.

Additional information

  • Interviews are scheduled for next week, with an immediate or near-term start preferred.
  • This is a fully remote role; candidates must have suitable home-working set-up and reliable connectivity.
