Role: Fire Systems Design Engineer
Location: London
Salary: £60,000 to £90,000 per annum

Are you a Fire Systems Design Engineer based in London? As a Fire Systems Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and coordination of complex fire suppression and protection systems, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and efficient project delivery. You will be working for a leading engineering organisation operating across the UK infrastructure sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and verification of Fire Suppression Systems in line with BS9990, BS EN 12845, and other applicable industry standards
  • Review, manage, and coordinate designs produced by MEP consultants and contractors
  • Develop and author Fire Alarm Cause & Effect documentation, including third-party interfaces
  • Work closely with Engineering Managers to resolve interface and integration issues
  • Provide technical responses, drive standardisation, and identify value-engineering opportunities
  • Liaise with accreditation bodies to ensure compliance with scheme and project standards
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support procurement processes, tendering activities, and project delivery phases

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • A minimum of proven experience in Fire Systems design within the Rail sector
  • Experience designing fire suppression and hydrant mains systems from tender through to certification
  • Strong knowledge of active and passive fire safety systems
  • Experience using CAD/BIM software for fire system design
  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • LPCB Basic Sprinkler Design Competency
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., IFE, IMechE)
  • Professional registration (EngTech, IEng, CEng) encouraged
