Project Manager | Hybrid – site-based as required | £55,000 – £65,000 (DOE) + Car/Allowance

The Opportunity

We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing specialist within the life safety, security, and communications sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their expanding Projects team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business at a key stage of growth, where you will work closely with senior leadership and play a pivotal role in delivering high-value projects while helping shape future project delivery processes.


The Role

Our client is seeking a commercially astute Project Manager with a proven track record in delivering fire and security packages under JCT contracts, typically valued at £1m+.

This is a high-responsibility role offering full ownership of projects from handover through to final account, including programme management, financial performance, subcontractor oversight, and contractual compliance.

You will be expected to operate autonomously, take full accountability for project outcomes, and build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and main contractors.


Key Responsibilities

Project & Commercial Management

  • Take full ownership of projects from handover through to completion and final account agreement
  • Manage contracts in line with JCT requirements, including notices, applications, and change control
  • Maintain full P&L responsibility, including forecasting, cost control, and cashflow management
  • Prepare and submit Applications for Payment, lead valuations, and secure timely payment
  • Identify, price, and negotiate variations and final accounts

Programme & Delivery

  • Develop and manage detailed project programmes aligned with key milestones
  • Coordinate design, technical submissions, and approvals
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and handover of systems
  • Ensure all project documentation, certification, and O&M manuals are delivered

Subcontractor Management

  • Manage subcontractor procurement, performance, and commercial control
  • Monitor progress, quality, and productivity, ensuring alignment with programme and margin

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants, and main contractors
  • Provide regular progress and financial reporting

Health & Safety & Close-Out

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and RAMS
  • Oversee project close-out, including documentation, training, and handover

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven delivery of fire and security projects under JCT contracts
  • Strong commercial experience across the full project lifecycle
  • Experience managing subcontractors on live construction sites
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness (P&L, forecasting, cashflow)

Technical Knowledge
A strong grounding in fire alarm systems is essential, alongside experience in most of the following:

  • Fire Alarms
  • PAVA
  • EVC
  • Access Control
  • CCTV
  • Intruder Alarms

Desirable: Structured cabling / data infrastructure

Qualifications

  • ECS Black Manager Card (or ability to obtain)
  • SMSTS
  • Valid ECS/CSCS Card
  • NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent) – desirable
