At our latest Security TWENTY show, at Manchester on Tuesday, July 1, we’re giving you more than the usual reasons to visit, writes Professional Security Magazine MD and ST organiser Roy Cooper.
We have got a great ST show lined up. Besides the normal exhibition floor of products and services we are bringing back the innovation stage, that we used at Heathrow in November. We are asking manufacturers to take the stage for about 15 minutes and demo what they’re offering – Mike White will chair. We’re doing stadium tours of Old Trafford, and from previous years’ STs, I can assure you that it’s well worth tagging along on the tour, by one of the official guides, even if you are not a Manchester United fan. While I know next to nothing about football, I am told that if you are a Tottenham Hotspur fan, you ought to keep that to yourself after Spurs beat United in the Europa League final the other week. Hopefully from about 4pm (doors open at noon) your mouth will be too full of the barbecue and drink to say anything!?
Skills get-together
We’ve got together with apprenticeship provider Skills for Security who are taking over an area of the show, with the aim of linking installers, employers and apprentices, looked after by Andrew Cooper of Skills. Integrators can talk to visitors about their vacancies (when they’re not on the stadium tour, sitting in the home dressing room, trying the highly comfy seats where the substitutes sit during matches, where the press it during press conferences, and so on, of course!?). We want to do our bit to support Skills for Security’s work (as featured in the July edition of Professional Security Magazine) to bring on new talent into the fire and security sector, such as college and school leavers.
How to attend
As for how to attend an ST show, it’s free, whatever your interest or background in private security. If you can register beforehand, online, please do, as that will help us gauge numbers for the catering; follow this link. Get up to date about the industry, do some networking, stay for as long or as little as you like!
Parking
Parking is free and ample. For more about the place, visit the Manchester United website.
Future dates
The rest of the ST year sees the shows return to Birmingham’s Edgbaston cricket stadium on September 4; and round off the year as ever in west London, at Heathrow, at the Radisson Red Hotel beside the round-about for the tunnel to the airport.
