The UK building materials firm Lafarge Tarmac sought lone worker protection products for the safety and protection of highway staff.
In spring 2013, Reliance Protect provided GPS-enabled Identicom lone worker devices in the armband of high visibility jackets. The product is accredited to BS8484 standards, comes with man-down motion detection, and locates workers in the event of an emergency. The solution combines 24/7/365 manned monitoring from the Reliance Monitoring Centre, a helpdesk, face-to-face training for Lafarge Tarmac users and management support and reporting tools for a fixed monthly fee.
Lafarge Tarmac has eliminated an โaccompanied worker scheme,โ which previously required operatives to work in pairs. Staff now drive vehicles and do tasks alone carrying the device.
