In Saudi Arabia, the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals sought a turnkey campus card – a multi-application smart card. This 900-acre institute for science and technology has 28 buildings and 375 entrances. Bell ID, aprt of Bell Group, is providing the card scheme, managed by the firm?s web-based ANDiS card and application management system, including the Pacom access control system, biometrics (digital fingerprint), electronic purse (for cafeteria and vending machine payments), library applications, and use of the university medical centre. More applications will be added. Some 20,000 staff, students and visitors will be enrolled. Operators across the campus can apply for cards via a standard web browser, logging on to the central ANDiS system.
