The Dorado Quattro from IDS is a multi-camera video compression board designed for digital video recorder (DVR) development.
This PCI frame grabber has four video inputs offering up to 25 frames per second, per channel, and each board can be expanded to accept up to 20 video inputs using daughter boards. Up to four Dorado boards can be used in a single PC, providing multiple camera recording capability. Product features include on-board MJPEG video compression thereby drastically reducing the PC’s CPU usage, it is claimed; in fact only 600Mb of recording data is produced per hour, and if motion detection is used, several weeks can be recorded on a single hard disk, according to the manufacturers. Simultaneous processing of four parallel video streams offers a maximum frame rate of 100 fps, and in multi board mode (up to four boards in a single PC) 400 fps is possible with 16 cameras, it is claimed. The product also offers motion detection.
