Disaster Control

by msecadm4921

Zandar Technologies reports a recent installation of a FusionPro 1RU MultiViewer in one of the first permanent disaster regional control centres in the Netherlands.

For this project, in Venlo, Visual Display Solutions provided the Zandar equipment to systems integrator, Emheas.

Venlo close to the German border has 28 cities in the area and a large chemical plant. The centre can support each city in the event of accidents or disasters such as major fires, smoke and chemical hazards and disease prevention such as bird flu. The centre has been operational since November 2005 and has so far enabled fire departments, police, medical teams, ambulances and local government to manage several small disasters.

Zandar reports that its FusionPro 1RU MultiViewer is configured using four RGB inputs and four video inputs for the display of road maps, computer data, helicopter images plus national and local television at the Regional Command Centre. Images are displayed on a video wall comprising of a 3×3 array of Clarity video wall cubes and operators control and manipulate audio and video sources through a matrix router. Each plasma screen uses a touch panel controller from Visual Display Solutions to control each individual input.

What they say

Mario van Wanrooj, head of the Venlo Regional Control Centre says: "We wanted the best quality media system that could easy access all information sources. Used with a mix of controls for the centrally located video wall, the MultiViewer system works alongside interactive white boards and plasma screens located around the centre. We have seen a huge improvement and our employees enjoy working with such an efficient system."

The FusionPro 1RU MultiViewer is operated using a video display processing engine that simultaneously handles any input source types and optimises these for large screen display, the firm says. With the ability to combine up to eight analogue and computer sources – including cameras, broadcast television, DVRs, maps and alarms – this system displays high-resolution (1,366 x 768 pixels) real-time images and features on-screen source identification. Other Zandar installations includr chemical and water treatment facilities, airports, local government, FBI, police stations, prison services and government institutions, the Irish firm adds.
