DSEi Debut

by msecadm4921

You can register to visit DSEi 2011 in September, the defence and security trade show. There will be a record 35 national pavilions on show at the event for land, sea and air applications of defence and security products, systems and equipment, which runs at ExCeL London from September 13 to 16. This compares with 27 national pavilions when DSEi was last staged in 2009.

The continuing rise in the number of national pavilions at DSEi is proof that the event is seen by companies as providing a ready-made point of access to defence markets outside their local area. Companies from Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific Rim are participating in national displays.

This year will see Poland making its DSEi debut, while other nations have increased their stand space. Companies from the major NATO and European Union countries will be represented, as well as many of Europe’s neutral or non-aligned countries.

The emerging defence markets have a presence, including Brazil, India and United Arab Emirates. These countries are emerging say event organisers as players in the global defence market both as importers and domestic producers of defence and security technology and equipment.

The increasing globalisation of the international defence and security market means that companies from countries, such as Brazil, India and the United Arab Emirates see DSEi not only as an opportunity to establish links with potential partners in their home markets, but also a chance to find new export customers for their existing products and services. These countries as a matter of national policy are seeking to establish international partnerships to facilitate technology transfer, local defence manufacturing and the development of exportable products.

Carlos Afonso Pierantoni Gambôa, Executive Vice President of Brazil’s defence and security manufacturers’ association,ABIMDE, said: “In our globalised world, countries cannot keep various economic sectors, including the defence and security industry, as purely domestic markets. Brazil, for example, has an industrial base for defence and security products which is internationally competitive.

ABIMDE, accordingly with The Brazilian National Defence Strategy, encourages affiliated companies to export their products with technology, creativity and innovation as ‘MADE IN BRAZIL’.

We are proud to organise the Brazilian Pavilion at DSEi, which is an excellent opportunity for Brazilian companies to engage with delegations from all around the world, in addition to the influential decision makers who are seeking products and services to reinforce the national security of their countries.”

DSEi Exhibition Director, Duncan Reid, said: ‘DSEi represents all elements of the defence and security supply chain, in addition to prime contractors a significant number of exhibitors are second tier suppliers and smaller companies. Together with this diversity of exhibitors there will be new feature areas focused on key sectors such as security and unmanned vehicles and we are looking to attract a record number of visitors.’

For more details visit –
