Fish Lock

by msecadm4921

Software firm DeviceLock, Inc announces that Seafish, the international cross-industry seafood body, has chosen DeviceLock software to establish control over employee access to local ports and peripheral devices on the authority’s endpoint computers to reduce the risk of external viruses.

Established in 1981, Seafish is a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) sponsored by the four UK government fisheries departments and funded by a levy on seafood. The authority works across all sectors of the seafood industry to promote good quality, sustainable seafood. The organisations work focuses on research and projects aimed at raising standards, improving efficiency and ensuring the continued development of the industry as a whole.

With over 70 per cent of the organisation working remotely, Seafish was experiencing an increase in the number of viruses that were coming into the company through USB devices. It also sought to comply with government legislation pertaining to the loss of personal and business critical data.

“Having adopted DeviceLock, Seafish is now compliant with government requirements on secure remote working – as a non departmental public body that is very important for us,” said John Watson, senior IT officer at Seafish. “When we looked at our options, DeviceLock was the most cost effective option available. The initial trial was a real success, it performed above expectations and didn’t adversely affect our critical systems or hardware – our staff can now use USB devices safely.”

“We are very pleased to be helping Seafish ensure it is no longer vulnerable to security breaches by putting all the necessary systems and protection in place before a problem occurs,” said Sacha Chahrvin, managing director at DeviceLock UK. “Not only does DeviceLock protect Seafish against virus attack, it also helps to ensure that they comply with data protection legislation.”
