Social Landlords in Tower Hamlets came together for the first anti social behaviour (ASB) conference in April, at the Docklands Sailing Centre.

The purpose of the day was to bring together key front-line staff such as housing officers, neighbourhood managers, safer neighbourhood teams and the police to develop ideas and solutions on how to tackle anti-social behaviour using the help of each other.

Participants listened to speakers: Bill Pitt, from the Government’s Respect taskforce – set up to tackle anti social behaviour and its causes, Andy Bamber, Tower Hamlets Head of Community Safety Services, and Supt Bal Babu of Tower Hamlets Police.

Community safety say

Andy Bamber, Head of Community Safety Services, Tower Hamlets Council, said: “By bringing key staff to this conference it’s a perfect catalyst to improve the way we combat ASB in Tower Hamlets and help residents feel safer in their homes.”

Delegates attended practical work shops on: Supporting Parents, Information Sharing and Problem Solving, Young People and ASB, Domestic Violence for Social Landlords.

Sarah Galindo – Castro, Poplar HARCA’s Community Safety Manager and Chair of Tower Hamlets Social Landlord’s ASB sub-group, said: “This conference brought Tower Hamlet’s Housing Associations together to share their ideas, experiences and local knowledge  on how best to address community safety issues and make Tower Hamlets a safer place to live.  By working together more closely we can ultimately provide our residents with an improved more efficient service.”
