IFSEC is running a new, ‘Future of Security’ competition for its May 2011 show. The aim, say event organisers: to find the next generation security innovations to radically change the security world.
Technological innovations at IFSEC 2011 will compete against each other in a live judging session. This is say event organisers an opportunity for the chosen entrepreneurs to find capital, industry partners and government customers.
The IFSEC Future of Security Competition is being run in association with Global Security Challenge, a company that acts as a central hub for security innovators, start-ups and investors and hosts competitions and events.
The competition is open worldwide to researchers, innovators, universities, and SMEs. Applicants must offer a technological innovation that can be used to prevent, defend against, recover from or cope with any kind of terrorist incidents or other criminal acts. Entry is free.
James Blue, Portfolio Director at UBM Live, organisers of IFSEC, said: “For many years now, IFSEC has been the platform for numerous technological developments and product launches. We appreciate that it is tough for a start-up company to break into the security market. With all the new and exciting innovations out there, we are launching the IFSEC Future of Security Competition to give new technologies a chance to gain wider exposure. With a high-level panel of security experts judging the entries, winning this competition will carry great kudos and numerous benefits.
"The lucky winner will receive a stamp of approval from industry luminaries, extensive media and market exposure, funds for further development of the technology and an opportunity to find capital, industry partners and government customers. We are looking forward to the inaugural competition at IFSEC 2011.”
