Luxury Apartments

by msecadm4921

Northern Ireland installer JBC Security, described by distributor Gardiner Security as one of its best customers in the region, has completed an access control system for the new coastal development of luxury apartments at Seafields Court in Warrenpoint

The site overlooks Carlingford Lough and the Mourne and Cooley mountains.

The two buildings, each consisting of 18 two to three bedroom apartments and penthouses (selling for up to £3m) are the work of Doherty Developments of Dundalk. Doherty also has other developments of detached homes nearby in Warrenpoint and County Louth.

Besides entry gates to the development, both four-storey buildings at Seafields Court have two main entrances, one to the front and one to the rear, all required to communicate with each apartment. The distributor recommended Urmet access control and worked with the manufacturer in designing a solution which would overcome the challenge of large and heavy natural wooden doors operating so close to the sea, the Rochdale-based distributor reports.

What they say

Jim Barron of JBC Security, says: “Natural wood can be considerably affected by its environment, swelling and moving even to the point of self-opening in a wind, so the system devised included not just one mag lock to each building and apartment entrance door, but two – one to the top and one to the side. The two timer locks – both sheer to preserve the beauty of the wood – work in tandem, making installation that much more specialised but also making the apartments particularly secure. Fortunately, we have been working closely with Gardiner for about 18 years, particularly now in access control and fire after years of working mainly in intruder and CCTV. The Duncrue in Belfast is our main source of support.”
