Network Offerings

by msecadm4921

The Integrated Systems Division of distributor ADI-GARDINER is launching initiatives to work on TCP/IP and network solutions with IT managers and network integrators.

The distributor reports an accelerating move to converged network and integrated security solutions.

The support services created to meet the demands of the IT or Security installer include bespoke training, on-site support to reduce time spent on installations and a range of ‘out of the box’ solutions.

The in-house support now on offer features ADSL router configuration to a customer’s specific requirements, and the Integrated Systems Division can also supply PCs and servers designed to similar specifications for whatever the quantity of cameras or hardware, frames per second and length of storage that may be required. ADI-GARDINER is also supplying PCs: either pre-configured to receive customer’s own software, or pre-installed with Milestone software.

"Immediately, providing these types of services has already proved to be a much valued proposition with customers nationwide," says ADI-GARDINER’s Integrated Systems Product Manager Ray Ashby. "We have added to our staff in this area and the industry is seeing that training and supporting installers in a real-life environment is a major advantage to IT resellers and is giving added value to customers."

The training and on-site support covers the requirements of any size of installation, from smaller projects incorporating around a dozen or more cameras, to major networks employing over 100 cameras. ADI-GARDINER has worked with engineers in many markets, notably education and retail, and reports that it is completing an installation for an English football club.

Two main areas of training are offered. Firstly, a Milestone Enterprise accreditation course, for engineers wanting to move into software. This is a two day course to enable installers to understand and configure the Milestone Enterprise 6 server based software, covering system topology; administrator applications; end user applications; installation checklist; installation preparation; system architecture and Enterprise certification test

The second area of training, a two day Cablenet IP and Network Integration course, provides security installers with the knowledge and skills to design and test an IP security solution over data networks. The course covers basic network configuration requirements to commission IP digital network solutions including software and cameras, and includes data networks; introduction to hardware, servers, routers, switchers, PC’s and operating systems; Ethernet and ATM principles; IP security products; basic design compression standards; public and private addresses; domain names and troubleshooting tools.
