The Wales NHS Trust Singleton Hospital has solved its car parking problems by using an entrance barrier with ANPR (automatic number plate recognition). designed and installed by Insight Intelligent Vision.
Previously the Swansea hospital used a swipe card system to gain entry but this was being abused by users lending their cards for others, unauthorised, to use the car parks.
Insight Intelligent Vision Ltd designed and installed three FAAC Barriers system on the exit and entry points using the new FAAC 620 barriers. These were linked to a CitySync bollard camera ANPR system which recognised authorised vehicles and automatically allowed them access to the car park. An intercom was retained. The installer included manual overrides to allow manual operation of the barrier system, in case it was required.
This system, the Cardiff-based installer says, has helped the hospital manage the misuse of there car park by providing a fast and efficient method of car parking control. John O’Connell, Insight’s Business Development Director, said: “Installing the ANPR barrier system has made it much easier for the hospital to manage it car parks. The Head of security is very impressed with the system.”
