Protecting Youth Centres

by msecadm4921

Youth centres often have expensive electrical and musical equipment that needs protecting.

West Sussex County Council thus sought a CCTV system for their youth centre at Crawley. Tony Dixon, of West Sussex installers Visual-Tech Installations, reports that the 16-camera system – all equipment supplied by Norbain – has 12 internal Vista colour cameras, three external fixed monochrome cameras with Dennard lamps for night viewing, and one Ultrak switchable dome camera on a column, to cover a football pitch. A GJD Opal movement detector system was installed inside the centre to trigger the lighting in case of an unauthorised entry to the premises, to back up the cameras. The CCTV system uses a Dedicated Micros digital hard-disk recorder and a JVC 14-inch monitor, all locked away to conform to the Data Protection Act. The council reports no problems since the system went live in the autumn.
