Retail Concept

by msecadm4921

tssi highlighted its biometric security systems at IFSEC. In particular, the company showed what it called a new concept in retail security using biometric fingerprint recognition system.

Visitors to tssi?s stand saw the company?s fingerprint verification system, Verid +, linked to an EPOS system to prevent unauthorised access and so cut losses caused by till theft. The fingerprint recognition system enhances security by ensuring that only authorised members of staff can access the till, which is particularly important when verifying refunds and similar transactions. It also prevents unauthorised use of the system due to lost or stolen swipe cards, ?i? buttons or disclosed PIN numbers. tssi also illustrated how its biometric security systems can be used in airport security applications, in particular for controlling and verifying access of individuals who need to go airside at airports. The company reports that its technologies can be used to control access to this type of restricted area, prevent employee substitution for activities such as cleaning aircraft, prevent unauthorised use of vehicles airside and create an audit trail of who has been where and when. They can also be used to produce secure identity documents, prevent the abuse of time and attendance systems, monitor known people and prevent passenger substitution between check-in and boarding.

Cash in transit security is another important area where biometrics can enhance conventional security systems, the firm says. tssi will be showing how its Verid + fingerprint verification systems can be used to tighten vehicle security, controlling which individuals can board, gain access to or drive a security vehicle and providing an accurate record of who is where and with what. tssi also showed how its secure identification systems can be used by local authorities to prevent fraud. Its tenant ID verification system is, for example, already being used by many local authorities, including the London Boroughs of Brent and Southwark, to prevent housing benefit fraud, stop illegal sub-letting and simplify the checking and authentication of tenants – this cuts costs dramatically by reducing fraud and improving administrative efficiency.
