Sanitaryware In Demand

by msecadm4921

Some 20 new jobs are being created at Wallgate, the Wiltshire-based sanitaryware specialists, as a result of new investment and increasing demand.

Wallgate has just agreed a £300,000 deal for the supply of new casting machinery which will enable the company to increase capacity by up to 75pc.

The installation of the new Gruber Economiser Continuous Casting Machine at the company’s Crow Lane site in Wiltshire, will enable Wallgate to meet a rapidly expanding customer demand.

Wallgate is a manufacturer of vandal resistant sanitaryware in local government, prisons, schools and other establishments. The company is best known for its range of hole-in-the-wall handwasher/drier units, which are commonly seen in schools and public toilets.

Wallgate Managing Director Trevor Powell said: "We are already ahead of our major competition for the production of highly durable basins, toilets and other such sanitaryware.

"However increasing demand from new customers means that we need to provide an even faster turnaround for our main product lines. That is why we have decided to make this major investment. As well as guaranteeing work for 20 employees, this investment will mean better working conditions, a more pleasant production environment and more automated handling. This means that our capacity will increase significantly to meet the growing demand for our products."

Wallgate employs 70 staff in Wilton and the company’s turnover has trebled, under new management, in the last three years.

About Wallgate Limited

Designer and manufacturer of high quality, damage-resistant sanitary ware. Having started as electrical engineers in 1919, Wallgate patented the Handwasher/Drier – an anti-vandal all-in-one facility aimed at local authorities, schools and retailers.

Over time Wallgate’s products have expanded to include high impact resin sanitaryware, which has proved the makers say durable even in remote areas with extreme vandalism.

For the last 12 years Wallgate’s designers have developed a range of sanitary ware that is used within secure environments and have refined these products to provide an anti-ligature range of WC’s, basins, baths, showers, and accessories, which are accepted by the Home Office and Department of Justice of use both within the police and prison sectors. In addition, the anti-ligature design has proved popular with Mental Health Trusts, seeking to protect vulnerable patients.

These products are supported by a variety of control systems from the basic manual and pneumatic to the newest electronic controls to provide maximum flexibility and choice to suit each different application. Equally, the WDC200 controller can activate a cistern, direct acting flush valve, pipe cistern and multi-outlet cistern flushing methods as standard.
