Owners of Frant Place in East Sussex were so pleased with their new swing gates, designed and installed by Tate Automation of Tunbridge Wells, that they asked the company to supply a second pair.
Both sets of gates are automated with FAAC 760 hydraulic operators. The installer, Gary Tate, says: ?We use the FAAC 760 a lot because, being a concealed unit, it doesn?t detract from a gate?s appearance, and also because of its slowdown facility, which ensures that the gate cruises gracefully to a stop, with no clanging and banging. The other main consideration at Frant Place was the 760?s opening angle. Both sets of gates needed to have wide opening angles ? over 130 degrees ? which the 760 can cover.? Access control is provided by a telephone entry system for visitors and remote controls for the family. Each leaf is about 7ft wide and weighs just over 600kg. The piers are made from brick with reconstituted stone caps (each 5ft wide), quoins, balls and finials. The power cable is surface-mounted to the rear of the fence and concealed by a thick hedge that runs the 200m from the house to the main entrance. This ensures that the cable cannot be cut accidentally and saves trenching. Suitable for residential and commercial gates up to 4m wide per leaf and with a maximum weight of 800kgs, the 760 operator has a combined drive unit and hydraulic pump. It is installed underground to reduce visual impact.
