Using A WAN

by msecadm4921

Cardax FT Series 5 communications, which are encrypted using SSL technology, can utilise an organisation?s existing LAN or WAN and are internet-compatible.

Cardax FT Series 5 was developed by Cardax to take advantage of IT technological advances. The rapid growth of the internet removed traditional barriers, allowing for integration of sites and offices around the world onto centralised systems. Not only are all sites able to be properly secured and protected, but doing so using one centralised system enables cost savings to the company, the manufacturer reports. Residing on existing company LANs / WANs (Local / Wide Area Networks), the Series 5 system utilises benefits of networks, complying with conventional rules of network connectivity. Designed to use minimal bandwidth, the product communicates using TCP/IP: the standard network / internet transmission protocol, over an ethernet network. Communications are encrypted between the Series 5 Command Centre and the Controller, and the Controller and the field devices. The Cardax FT Controller 5000 has an on-board network connection, and also supports remote dial-up operation. Series 5 Command Centre can manage, monitor, and configure remote sites. Software upgrades can be carried out (using downloadable code) digital images can be viewed (using a digital camera), and reports can be accessed ? all remotely.

Shell Australia for instance needed to cover all sites nationally, securely, and used the Cardax FT Series 5 system. Tony Van Noordenburg, Shell Australia?s Facilities Operations Manager, says: ?The system is software driven and able to be supported from anywhere in the world, enhancing secure environments at remote sites. In our case this is very important, as is the ability to maintain a national system remotely. The reporting function is also very fast and give good flexibility.? Shell Australia?s system resides on the local area network of each site and is controlled and administered from Melbourne over Shell?s own wide area network. Van Noordenburg adds: ?The system saves hassles and dramas. It is very flexible and certainly meets our needs. It allows for ongoing upgrades and it definitely lends itself to other Shell sites.?

With the globalisation of business, Cardax access control solutions are designed for situations where the Internet is applied for remote monitoring and effective management of sites from one centralised location, resulting in pertinent cost savings. Visit www.cardax.com
