Xray Check

by msecadm4921

Melton Mowbray-based product firm 3DX-RAY’s TPXi x-ray bomb and threat detection systems have passed the test of over 1,000 suspect packages on the rail and underground system in London alone.

With a profile just 5cm deep, 3DX-Ray’s lightweight TPXi x-ray suspect package inspection system can get security staff into – and out of – some very tight spaces, according to the firm.

And, as it has a detector area of 500 by 400 mm), it ensures the makers claim that operators don’t have to return to reposition the unit before the threat is resolved. The makers claim that it is fast to deploy and easier to use than conventional bomb detection equipment, so more packages can be safely identified.

What BTP say

Supt Phil Trendall, speaking on behalf of the British Transport Police, said: "Our officers are in the front line protecting the transport infrastructure against terrorist attack and it is very important that they have the best equipment available to protect the public, help minimise disruption and keep the rail system moving. The new TPXi product is one of the most advanced portable x-ray systems available. Its exceptional image quality and robust wireless capability are particularly important in terms of maintaining our ability to manage the high levels of unattended items reported within the rail environment."
