Chiltern renewal

by Mark Rowe

The security services contractor Amulet has a renewed contract with Chiltern Railways for three years, with the option to extend for another two years, after a competitive tender process. The contract is worth ยฃ2m a year and began on April 1. The security contractor reports a 12-year relationship already. Amulet says it’ll transition security operations from static guarding to a more dynamic mobile staffing model across the Chiltern network.

Under the new contract, Amulet will provide Travel Safe Officers (TSOs, pictured) and static security officers, with increased presence at major stations, including Birmingham Moor Street, which serves the south Midlands and to London Marylebone. The company will deploy about 55 security officers to support Chiltern operations. Amulet points to its experience in providing TSOs, and competitive pricing.

Kieran Mackie, managing director at Amulet, said: “We are delighted to continue our longstanding partnership with Chiltern Railways. This contract renewal demonstrates our deep understanding of their security requirements. Our team is excited to implement the new mobile staffing approach to deliver more flexible and responsive security coverage across the network. Employees working on this contract will receive an extensive training package and development opportunities, ensuring they are equipped to deliver exceptional service whilst furthering their careers in the security sector.”

And Tony Baxter, operations director at Chiltern Railways, said: โ€œSecurity across our network is paramount for the travel experience and the safety of our customers and colleagues. This transition to a more mobile security presence will help us further enhance customer experience while maintaining the high standards of safety and security our customers expect. We look forward to continuing our successful collaboration with Amulet.โ€
