The seminar programme for Retail Business Technology Expo 2012, the retail show, has been announced; it’s free to attend. With an education programme consisting of over 130 presentations, debates, discussions, panels and Q&A’s cove subjects from multichannel, eCommerce, internationalisation, loss prevention and fraud, stores, operations, supply chain and logistics to marketing. The seminar sessions at Retail Business Technology Expo will be spread over three theatres – the IMRG Theatre and Retail Business Technology Theatres (in addition to these theatres the educational programme also includes the Cards & Payments Solutions Theatre, the Global Retail Forum Meetings and the Pecha Kucha Theatre). Keynotes at the IMRG Theatre and Retail Business Technology Theatres include; Paul Coby, IT Director, John Lewis Partnership; Mark Fabes, IT Director, McDonald’s and Paul Willows, Director of Strategy & Architecture, Boots, who will be providing insights.

Gunnar Sigurdsson, JMS Partners, formerly CEO of the Baugur Group and leading shareholder in Iceland Foods, Hamleys, House of Fraser and Aurum, will be discussing why information is power.  Mark Kelso, Director of Pricing from US retailer Pamida Stores will discuss how to win in the age of the shopper.  Michael Sinn, Vice President Format & Category Management Support, from the world’s second largest online retailer Otto will explain how to achieve Inventory improvement with Predictive Analytics and Joanna Brazier, Multichannel Programme Director, John Lewis Partnership will be providing an insider’s view of multichannel at John Lewis.

The Pecha Kucha challenge is coming. Speakers will present 20 slides, with each slide presented in 20 seconds, so each presenter has just six minutes and 40 seconds to explain their ideas.  Pecha Kucha draws its name from the Japanese term for the sounds of ‘chit chat’.  The presentations will cover a broad range of subjects from: managed services – QR codes – global multichannel payments – cloud computing – Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) on the shop floor – mobile wallets – optimised retailing – RFID – online marketing – mobile channels and  more.
