Intruder alarm control panel

by Mark Rowe

Eaton’s Security business has added to its intruder alarm control panel range the i-on1000EXKP. The firm says that the product is also capable of directly replacing the company’s heritage multi-bus system.

For use it’s claimed in a range of applications, the panel is the makers sayparticularly for those looking to install or replace large systems in schools and colleges, as well as hospitals and large commercial buildings, where there is a requirement of up to 1000 zones. Eaton point to the control panel’s robust construction, with its user friendly, flexible programming and peripheral compatibility.

The company’s multi-bus panels were launched in the mid-1990s. Eaton says that its Security business did extensive consultations with selected customers to find feedback on features in a new device. Feedback suggested eight buses, at least 500 zones and 30 partitions that could run over more than 200m of cable.

The i-on1000EXKP has ten buses, 1,000 zones, 50 wards and 500m of cable. It has an integrated webserver alongside USB and Ethernet ports.

Martin Tweedie, Product Manager of Eaton’s Security business, said: ‘Our extensive research and development capabilities have allowed us to produce what can only be considered the next generation of control panel technology. The i-on range is synonymous with quality and reliability, and the features that we have built into the i-on1000EXKP means that it is sure to become a firm favourite with installers working on medium and large projects within a variety of sectors.’
