FIREX review

by Mark Rowe

FIREX International reports that it welcomed 16,290 attendees across the three days, which is described by organisers UBM EMEA as a positive increase on last year’s show. The show continues to attract decision makers from across the industry, it’s claimed, with a 2pc increase from integrators, a 61pc increase from consultants, and a 23pc increase from visitors with a budget over £10m. FIREX International continued to sit alongside IFSEC International in the South Halls at ExCeL London, reflecting the crossover between the two industries, say orgaanisers.

Gerry Dunphy, Event Director for IFSEC and FIREX International, said: ‘’FIREX continues to cement its position as Europe’s premier annual fire safety event and this year saw a return to form with over 76 exhibiting companies present. Exhibitors reported substantial levels of interest from international customers as well as a noticeable growth in major end users. Installers told us they’re continuing to see the alignment with IFSEC as a major advantage of attending both shows as the ever increasing synergies between fire and security are coming to the fore. FIREX and IFSEC will continue to embrace this overlap for years to come.’’

The Fire Industry Association (FIA), Fire Protection Association (FPA), Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) and the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) were all present this year as partners to the show, hosting seminar sessions, advice clinics and information zones. This year, FIREX welcomed a new supporting association, the Fire & Security Association (FSA).

The Inspirational Speaker Series saw Colonel Tim Collins OBE on day one, Kate Adie OBE on day two and James Cracknell OBE on the final day. FIREX was co-located with health and safety, facilities, security, service management and workwear and uniform events, which as a total saw over 45,000 visitors at the ExCeL over the three days, a 4pc increase on 2015. IFSEC International welcomed 27,052 attendees across the three days in line with 2015.

Safety and Health Expo welcomed 13,800 attendees across the three days which represents a 9pc increase from the previous year. Facilities Show welcomed 11,353 attendees across the three days which represents an 18pc increase in visitors over the first two days.

FIREX International 2017 runs from June 20 to 22 at ExCeL London. Visit www.firex.co.uk.
